Goth and Girly

The Simple Skirt

11-22-20 post.jpg

A skirt may seem a bit plain, but you can really level any skirt up with accessories and the clothing that you pair with it. As shown In the picture, the skirt in question today is floral. I’m a sucker for black floral prints because they are simple yet exciting. I wish I could tell you where to buy this skirt, but fortunately and unfortunately it is thrifted. Thrift stores are the best place to find simple black pieces to pair with other items in your wardrobe, but that’s a lesson for another day.

With this skirt, you can pair a simple turtle neck, or dress it up like I have and pair it with a frilly top. Anything with tool or mesh is a win in my book and if you can make mesh and tool more professional by pairing it with simple items you get bonus points. The mesh sleeve top that I’m wearing I found online and it’s a body suit which makes it even easier to pair with different pants and skirts. This style is very popular these days so you can find a top like the one shown really easily. If you are interested in this exact top leave me a comment and I’ll post the link!

Another great item to pair with a simple skirt like the one in the picture is a hat. I chose to pair this with a beret which really took this outfit to a new chic level. Another great pairing for fall would be this skirt, a turtle neck, and a larger floppy sunhat. If you are interested in seeing a more fall look, check out the launch post for a picture!

Shoes are the hard part for me. Obviously you can’t see me shoes in the picture because my camera set up is not very professional but shoes are a very important part of any outfit. Depending on the shoes you wear, this outfit can go from business to everyday as fast as you can lace up your platform boots. For a work appropriate look, I would pair this skirt with a short heel that has an extremely pointy toe. I love pointy toed shoes and I think that this outfit would look really good with a small, chic pointy shoe. If you want this to be a younger and more fun look, I would say some chunky boots would be awesome. Maybe something that comes up mid-calf would be perfect depending on the length of the skirt.

Overall a simple skirt is a basic must have in every grown-up goth’s closet so get out and find one that suits your style! If you aren’t a skirt lover, stay tuned for next week’s outfit!

Let me know what kind of skirt you like and what you would pair with it. I look forward to hearing everyone’s responses.

Until next week!
